The Common Core has placed more emphasis on the use of informational texts than fiction storybooks. Teachers of young children often choose fictional story books over informational texts. This course will provide you with lots of examples of the various kinds of engaging informational texts that you can use in your classroom to teach science, social studies, and math to build your children’s depth of knowledge.

- This module/session will explore the types of informational texts appropriate for children aged 4-8 that deepen understanding. This session will include tips for the read aloud strategy, and suggestions and ideas to expand learning beyond story time.
